ABOUT THIS LESSON
Using a four-step pause to choose a response before reacting. The lesson helps students use a four-step pause – stop, breathe, name it, choose – before reacting.

TEACHING INSIGHT
Strong feelings are not sins to hide. Being slow to speak is a practice, learned over time, that lets a person answer a moment instead of being run by it.

FACILITATION FOCUS
The main application is “Pause, breathe, choose drill”, where students move from discussing the idea to trying it in a concrete example. Keep returning to the takeaway: “A feeling arrives on its own; the response is still chosen.” Look for whether students describe a body signal first and a reaction second, rather than jumping straight to blaming the other person.
