The power of ‘not yet’
We are learning to reframe a current difficulty as a skill still being learned.
Learning Intention
We are learning to reframe a current difficulty as a skill still being learned.
Biblical Big Idea
Paul is sure that God has begun good work in people and keeps going with it. So ‘not yet’ is not a failure verdict — but it is only honest when it comes with help and a real next step.

ABOUT THIS LESSON
Turning a harsh verdict about yourself into a skill still being learned. The lesson helps students reframe a current difficulty as a skill still being learned.
TEACHING INSIGHT
Paul is sure that God has begun good work in people and keeps going with it. So ‘not yet’ is not a failure verdict — but it is only honest when it comes with help and a real next step.
FACILITATION FOCUS
The main application is “Verdict to practice”, where students move from discussing the idea to trying it in a concrete example. Keep returning to the takeaway: “‘Not yet’ is only honest when it carries a next step.” Look for whether students name both halves: the difficulty is real, and the sentence is now open. If they only say ‘it’s more positive’, push once: ‘Is it more positive, or more honest?’
